Utrecht shooting: three dead, several injured in Netherlands SUBSCRIBE: https://youtu.be/nE2uhv-ZCSw : THE Dutch government has raised the terrorism threat in Utrecht to its highest ever level after a gunman opened fire on a tram this morning, killing at least one person and leaving several injured before fleeing the scene.
All the city’s mosques have been evacuated and schools are on high alerts, as heavily armed police guard Dutch airports and transport hubs after the attack on the stationary tram at 10.45am today.
The head of the country’s counter-terrorism agency said the shooting “appears to be a terrorist attack” and warned for children to stay inside schools with the doors closed.
Witnesses told local media that a man pulled out a weapon and started shooting several people.
Jimmy de Koster told De Telegraaf: “I came from my job when it happened. I was standing at the traffic lights on 24 Oktoberplein and I saw a woman lying down, I think she is between 20 and 35 years old.
“At that time I heard pang pang pang three times. Four men walked very fast towards her and they tried to drag her away and then I heard pang pang pang again and those guys let go of that woman again. Very chaos there…”
