Italy’s PM speaks after the Genoa bridge collapse tragedy – Daily Mail Latest Movie Trailers, Clips, Music, Games and All Round Entertainment Dramatic photos showed firefighters winching injured survivors out of the ‘apocalyptic’ debris (left) an in to waiting ambulance helicopters after cars fell hundreds of feet along with tonnes of twisted steel and concrete debris into a river, railroad tracks and an industrial zone below when the Morandi bridge gave way (top right) at 11.30am in Genoa, Italy. Officials said ‘dozens’ are dead in what is being described as ‘an immense tragedy’ and there are reports a baby was among those killed. Witnesses said the bridge was hit by lightning seconds before it collapsed and was seen ‘wobbling’, but engineers rubbished the idea that a bolt from above had anything to do with the disaster, saying it was almost certainly brought down by a fatal flaw in its construction or wear and tear inspectors missed. Amid ‘apocalyptic’ scenes, up to 35 cars and three heavy trucks cascaded into the valley below (bottom right), with firefighters and rescuers struggling to free survivors trapped in crushed vehicles and buildings (bottom right). Dramatic photos show how a green truck stopped just short of the gaping hole in the giant structure (top right).
