Tragic Details About Keanu Reeves

Tragic Details About Keanu Reeves SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rREdMMfZT4 : Tragedy has reared its ugly head time and time again for Keanu Reeves. From his difficult childhood to the loss of loved ones, he’s faced the kind of adversity that many would be unable to recover from, but he still stands. Here’s an in-depth look at the hand he’s been dealt.

Reeves’ hardships began at a young age. His father abandoned the family when Keanu was just a toddler. As a result, he and his mother moved around to various locations, with stops in Lebanon, Australia, and the United States, before finally settling in Toronto, Canada. Over the years, Reeves has never managed to develop a meaningful relationship with his father, who was sentenced to ten years in prison for drug possession in 1994, though he only served two.

Reflecting on his developing years, Reeves told Parade magazine in 2006,

“I’ve had a vagabond life. There is a bit of the gypsy in me, and living that way seemed to make sense. I couldn’t settle down.”

When Reeves is given the opportunity to speak about his late friend River Phoenix, he’ll say a few kind words but rarely more. The two actors met on the set of 1990’s I Love You To Death and developed a close friendship while filming 1991’s My Own Private Idaho.

Phoenix died suddenly at the age of 23 in 1993 from a lethal mix of heroin, cocaine and valium. When Rolling Stone asked about their friendship in 2000, Reeves kept his answer short:

“I enjoyed his company. Very much. And enjoyed his mind and his spirit and his soul. We brought good out in each other. He was a real original thinker. He was not the status quo. In anything.”
