🇩🇿 How will Algeria’s army handle protests against president Bouteflika? l Inside Story SUBSCRIBE: https://youtu.be/4JLjF89hz34 : https://youtube.com/ashbgame : The biggest protests in years against Algeria’s president are gaining strength.
Thousands of people have been rallying for nearly two weeks, urging Abdelaziz Bouteflika to pull out of next month’s election.
The 82-year old has been in power for two decades, but is rarely seen in public after suffering a stroke in 2013.
In a letter, Bouteflika promised he won’t complete a full term if re-elected.
Now the army’s chief is trying to quell the protests by evoking memories of the civil war of the 1990s, which killed at least 200,000 people.
So, how will the protesters respond, and who’s really in charge in Algeria?
